Episode 23 Streaming Edition: Okja, The Bad Batch, The Blackcoat's Daughter and more
Wednesday Jul 12, 2017
Wednesday Jul 12, 2017
Welcome to Phantom Galaxy Episode 23. This week we begin a regular feature on what's available on streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon and Hulu.
We also present our second submitted Phantom Rant, and we get to use our censor noise for the first time on the podcast.
Chris and Nathan are joined by Jason Kuppler as they take a look at Netflix's Okja, The Bad Batch, and more. There's a distinctly female theme running through this week's films, especially in the horror arena. The female-centric anthology XX, and two thrillers featuring young female protgaonists (Sweet Sweet Lonely Girl and The BlackCoat's Daughter) round out the ghoulishness. And Chris reviews an old schlock movie called 'Invasion of the Bee Girls.
Join us for that and much more, deep within The Phantom Galaxy!

Welcome to Phantom Galaxy Episode 22. In this episode we get down to reviewing a handful of new summer movies and tv shows, including a special early review of Matt Reeves War for the Planet of the Apes. We'll also take a look at the latest season premiere of AMC's Preacher and Spike TV's launch of The Mist.
Chris laments the twisted desire to finish film franchises he's already started with Transformers: The Last Knight and Nathan wearily explains what you can expect from Despicable Me 3.
We also talk a variety of topics including Nintendo's upcoming SNES release with Star Fox 2, and their treacherous roll-out of last year's NES classic.
Will Matt Reeves Batman movie resemble a Hitchcock film? Will Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets be more than pretty pictures? What exactly is going on with The Inhumans?
Join us for that and much more, deep within The Phantom Galaxy!

Wednesday Jun 28, 2017
Wednesday Jun 28, 2017
Welcome to Phantom Galaxy Episode 21, an impromtu Twin Peaks cast to commemorate the moment David Lynch broke cable television on June 25th, 2017. This episode is so strange, so out there Seth and Nathan had to sit down and talk it out.
Don't worry, we both need a break from Lynch....we'll return you to your regularly scheduled programming soon...
Note: This is complete spoiler territory. We discuss in detail events that occur in these five epsiodes as well as our theories about what's coming next.

Phantom Galaxy 20: Between Two Lodges: Twin Peaks Part 2
Saturday Jun 24, 2017
Saturday Jun 24, 2017
Welcome to Phantom Galaxy Episode 20. True friends and false imposters are uncovered as Nathan and Seth continue to follow the Lynch bread crumbs making their way back to Twin Peaks: The Return.
This time around we focus in on epsiodes 3 through 7, and explore the themes of behavior, identity and sweeping a floor for a really, really long time.
Note: This is complete spoiler territory. We discuss in detail events that occur in these five epsiodes as well as our theories about what's coming next.
We'll be back soon with a stand-alone for epsiode 8!

Phantom Galaxy 19: Twin Peaks--Between Two Lodges
Saturday Jun 17, 2017
Saturday Jun 17, 2017
Welcome to Phantom Galaxy Episode 19. Time and space, good and evil, are turned upside down and topsy turvy as Nathan and Seth start their journey into Twin Peaks: The Return.
In keeping with David Lynch and the nature of this fascinating and often bewildering experience, our series will be more of a stream-of-conciousness discussion as we consider and wrestle with the ideas, imagery and themes that form the bubbling surreal stew that is Twin Peaks.
Note: This is complete spoiler territory. We intended to cover the first six episodes of the new series here, but instead we do a recap of the first series and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, and then chat about the first two episodes of The Return.
We'll be back soon with episodes 3 through 6! Enjoy!

Phantom Galaxy Episode 18: Don't Be Afraid of the Shark
Friday Jun 16, 2017
Friday Jun 16, 2017
Welcome to Phantom Galaxy Episode 18, where Nathan and Chris sink below the waves to observe a world of gliding monsters and chum the depths of shark movies. We begin the episode with a new feature on the cast, ‘Phantom Rants’, where we hear from you about trends in sci-fi, fantasy and horror that really irk you. Tonight’s rant comes from Brian, who has cast an ‘ill eye’ on possession movies.
Then, we review the new summer shark bait, 47 Meters Down with Mandy Moore and Clair Hoult. We finish the whole thing off with a survey of sharks and the craziness they get up to in the movies, whether it be hanging out in dangerous weather events, causing snow avalanches, or building natural dams of human bodies. Come along, and remember, ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Shark!’

Phantom Galaxy Episode 14: Desperately Adapting Lovecraft
Saturday May 20, 2017
Saturday May 20, 2017
"That is not dead which can eternal lie". And that which is in the public domain may beget many adaptations. On this first jaunt into the work of H.P. Lovecraft, Nathan is joined by Seth Dombach as they look more closely at Lovecraft's background and the quality of the many adapted films and other work out there. Sure, we'll look at Re-Animator, but what about the ill-fated Innsmouth movie Stuart Gordon planned to direct in the 90s? There's room here for schlocky B-movies, passionate indies, and a handful of comedies. We'll even introduce you to a Lovecraft-inspired band and the curious online store of 'Lovecraft Wines'. Enjoy a dip in the ancient deep with Phantom Galaxy!
